Maulana Azad National Urdu University: Morning Mood

Maulana Azad National Urdu University is a Central University located in the city of Hyderabad in India. It was named after Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, India’s first Minister of Education, a freedom fighter in India’s struggle for independence, and a scholar of Islam and Urdu literature. The university was established by an Act of the Parliament in January 1998, with an All India jurisdiction. The university has been awarded “A” Grade by National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC). It is a unique university in the regard that the university is established to promote a particular language.

Main objectives of the university are:

  • to promote and develop the Urdu language
  • to impart education and training in vocational and technical subjects through the medium of Urdu
  • to provide wider access to people desirous of pursuing programmes of higher education and training in Urdu medium through Campus and Distance modes &
  • to provide focus on women education.

A Garden With a Canon!!

DSC00390Botanical Garden in Ooty has its own canon. We v.isited it on 7th and were amused by its beauty,variety and upkeep. It has a fossil tree, and a variety of artifacts and flowers.

It was laid out in 1848. The Gardens, divided into several sections, cover an area of around 22 hectares, and lie on the lower slopes of Doddabetta peak. The garden has a terraced layout. It is maintained by the Tamil Nadu Horticulture Department.
