London, one of the busiest cities in the world, is aiming to become one of the greenest and most sustainable cities in the world thanks to a raft of new initiatives.
With London’s population projected to reach 10 million by 2030, the need to create a fully sustainable city is crucial to its future.
Next year, London will become the first-ever National Park City – a project that will push for half of the city area to consist of green and blue spaces – parks and bodies of water – by 2050. The figure is currently at 47%.
The initiative has also received the backing of London Mayor Sadiq Khan, who has put the environment top of his agenda since taking office in 2016.
