A formal region is a geographic space that has common attributes and is traditionally defined by economic political, social, or environmental characteristics.
Functional Region
A functional region is a geographic space organised around a node or a central point that is based on specific economic activities, travel or communication. The concept is based on feasibility of settlements on functions.
Perceptual Region
Perceptual region is a space having no exact definition. it only exist because people’s beliefs, feelings and attitudes. Notable examples are Bible Belt and Silicon Valley.
