Arcology : A Sustainable Perspective in Urban Design
Arcology is the fusion of architecture with ecology, a comprehensive urban perspective. As organisms evolve, they increase in complexity and become a more compact system. A city should similarly evolve, functioning as a living system. Architecture and ecology are integral processes capable of demonstrating positive responses to the many problems of urban civilization – population growth, pollution, energy/natural resource depletion, food scarcity, and quality of life. Arcology recognizes the need to radically reorganise the sprawling urban landscape into dense, integrated, three-dimensional cities to support the diversified activities that sustain human culture and environmental balance. Smart , Resilient and Sustainable cities may be a step forward in this direction. Arcology, in future will be a vital component of City Planning.
It is a field of creating architectural design principles for very densely populated and ecologically low-impact human habitats.
The term was coined in 1969 by architect Paolo Soleri, who believed that a completed arcology would provide space for various residential, commercial, and agricultural facilities while minimizing individual human environmental impact. These structures have been largely hypothetical, as no large-scale arcology has yet been built.

Review of “Mujhe Chaand Chahiye”
A Book by by Surendra Verma
Varsha is a small town girl, who is an introvert and shy, grows up ambitiously yet humbly, to become a successful, much sought-after, superstar in Indian film industry is narrated in an enthralling manner. You cannot even once guess the ending of any chapter, leave alone the whole story. It is a welcome read for any voracious reader who can read Hindi.
Character building is the strength of the book. the personality of ever character is developed. There are many characters and their presence is justified by the life story of Yashoda Sharma/Silbil/Varsha Vashisht. To the author every character is important.
Varsha at a point takes up new name and perhaps that is the process of donning a new avatar and perhaps a new person. This is a journey of a person being a better person. With every challenge she grows as a person and as an artist.
Varsha keeps changing and evolving as a person and artist throughout the story and thats the beauty of the novel.
The title of the book suggests it is a story of an attempt to gain something impossible. So, does Varsha Vashisht attain the moon? Does she lose helself in the process? This novel will make it hard for you to put it down.
A Must Read Book for Those Book Lovers Who can Read Hindi.
