Surprise effect: Methane cools even as it heats, say researchers
So methane as a greenhouse gas both heats and cools, and both makes things wetter and drier. This schizophrenic gas hangs around for a relatively short period of time compared to CO2. But what the article doesn’t say is that methane from human-produced sources has been spiking of late. More of the gas doesn’t sound like an environmental positive.
